IPSA is pleased to announce that Professor Neera Chandhoke will be a plenary speaker at the 2025 IPSA World Congress of Political Science in Seoul on 16 July 2025. Her keynote, titled Legal Autocracy in South Asia, will examine how autocrats in the region undermine democratic institutions through legislation while maintaining the facade of democracy.

IPSA President Pablo Oñate will chair the IPSA President’s Plenary session at the 2025 IPSA World Congress on 15 July 2025 at 13:45. The plenary, titled Populism, Polarization and the Consequences on Democracy, will feature the following distinguished scholars who will explore the challenges posed by populism and polarization:

We are delighted to announce that Carlos Pereira has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Guillermo O'Donnell Award for Latin American Scholars. Prof. Pereira, Professor at the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV EBAPE) in Rio de Janeiro, will deliver an award lecture titled Between Threat and Breakdown: Understanding Democratic Resistance in Latin America at the 28th IPSA World Congress in Seoul on 13 July 2025.
