Description

25 years after the unanimous adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 1325, women are still conspicuously absent from the high peace table. Indeed, lack of gender diversity is so common that few even notice it! A common excuse for excluding women is that they lack expertise and experience. Covering diverse case studies, the papers on this panel illustrate that women are, in fact, engaged in peace work--survival, care, relief, rebuilding and mediation---in their communities, with or without official recognition.
