Description

What makes a country to become a major power? Based on the case of India, which is covered by T.V. Paul in his book "The Unfinished Quest", the panel shall discuss the strategies put forward by emerging powers to reach the status of great power. Specifically in the case of India, questions related to power dynamics in the Indo-Pacific---particularly competition with China--are crucial. Yet, more than a matter of building hard power, the quest for becoming a great power also involves the construction and diffusion of soft power.
