Political scientists have long recognized the importance of civic engagement for cultivating well-informed citizens capable of sustaining inclusive, participatory democracies. Across the discipline, civic engagement may take various approaches, including teaching community-based learning modules and civic skills learning, direct engagement with community members in areas such as voter mobilization, and conducting research in mutually beneficial collaboration with communities of interest. This roundtable will spotlight recent initiatives within the discipline that advance civic engagement and offer models for scholarly participation in the community.
