Corporate Lobbying and Social Responsibility

Description

The "woke agenda" refers to companies' awareness and proactive engagement with social issues, such as gender equality and environmental sustainability. Increasingly, companies are embracing corporate social responsibility (CSR), adhering to standards that exceed legal requirements. In contrast, corporate lobbying focuses on securing private benefits for firms. Although "corporate lobbying" and "social responsibility" might seem unrelated, CSR can also be a strategic tool to influence policymakers. This panel aims to explore the complex relationships between corporate lobbying and social responsibility, with a focus on studies examining lobbying strategies and their connections to the "woke" agenda, as well as environmental and social standards.
