Description

The field of international aid has been reshaped due to the rise of the so-called emerging donors, in particularly China. Yet, challenges to development finance also stem from isolationist trends arising from the Global North, such as movements like "America First". Hence, apart from scrutinizing the role of non-Development Assistance Committee (DAC) donors, it is worth assessing the impact of public opinion on states' choice on employing aid as a tool of statecraft in an era of increasing geopolitical and geoconomic competition. This panel aims to fill those gaps in the literature by bringing together papers that address those gaps in the literature on development finance.
