Built in 1395, Gyeongbokgung Palace is also commonly called the Northern Palace because its location is furthest north compared to the neighboring palaces of Changdeokgung (Eastern Palace) and Gyeonghuigung (Western Palace) Palace. Gyeongbokgung Palace is arguably the most beautiful and remains the largest of all five palaces.
The Hanbok is the traditional Korean clothes. The term "Hanbok" literally means "Korean clothing". It was established as a part of the unique living culture of Korea, influenced by the geographical and climatic nature of the Korea, and handed down throughout the years to present times.
Located in the heart of the city, Insadong Antique Street is an important place where old but precious and traditional goods are on display. There is one main road in Insadong with alleys on each side. Within these alleys are galleries, traditional restaurants, traditional teahouses, and cafes. To keep the ambience, even international cafes like Starbucks changed their banners from English spelling to Korean alphabet Hangeul.
A modern reinterpretation of traditional Korean najeonchilgi (mother-of-pearl lacquerware), this class is located in the heart of Bukchon Hanok Village. This charming gallery offers hands-on workshops led by Master Artisan Lee Young-ok, where visitors can create elegant, functional items like hand mirrors, business card holders, and brooches using mother-of-pearl. Classes are available Monday through Saturday at 10:30 AM and 2:00 PM, for groups ranging from 2 to 35 people. Set in a beautiful hanok, Jinjoo Shell blends traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary aesthetic, providing a unique cultural experience in one of Seoul’s most historic neighborhoods.
