Polarization in Times of Crisis

Crises often amplify existing divisions, creating fertile ground for heightened political polarization. The panel aims to explore the mechanisms underlying polarization, especially during times of crisis. Topics include, but are not limited to, the role of fear and uncertainty, the influence of media and social networks, and the impact of leadership rhetoric on polarization. As such, the panel will feature empirical studies and theoretical analyses that examine the psychological underpinnings of polarization. Empirical as well as theoretical works are welcome.
