Description
The relationship between politics and science is an old question for the sociology and history of knowledge production. It has been especially acute for political science - a discipline par excellence concerned with political processes. The rise of authoritarian politics across the globe threatens academic freedom and radically transforms the conditions in which knowledge is produced. How is political science being affected by this? Is it shrinking or experiencing a process of “deinstitutionalization”? Is a new form of “authoritarian political science” emerging in some cases? The panel will explore this complex landscape from different perspectives and geographies.
