The Panel on Representation, Identity Politics, and Social Justice in South Asia will explore how political representation in the region is shaped by complex social, economic, and cultural identities. It will examine the intersectionality of caste, class, gender, and ethnicity in electoral politics, highlighting how marginalized communities navigate systemic barriers to access political power. The panel will also discuss the role of identity-based movements in challenging structural inequalities and advancing social justice. Additionally, it will address how various forms of resistance, both institutional and grassroots, contribute to the reimagining of democratic practices in South Asia.
