Women, War, and Peace

This panel explores the influence of women in a range of political regimes. One author examines women’s roles in autocratization with a focus on women leaders in North Korea and their contributions to regime stability. Other papers look at women’s resistance to oppressive regimes in Myanmar and Afghanistan. External donors’ influence on the effectiveness of women, peace and security initiatives in Afghanistan is also explored. Finally, feminist foreign policy theories are considered for their impact on the fragile regimes of Afghanistan and Myanmar.
