This closed panel convenes esteemed members of the IPSA Research Committee on Electronic Democracy (RC10) to engage in an in-depth discussion and presentation of scholarly papers that critically examine the contemporary dimensions of e-democracy. The focus of this panel is to advance the academic discourse on the intersection of technology and democratic governance, offering new insights and theoretical advancements in the field. Panellists will present original research that explores various facets of Electronic Democracy, including but not limited to the impact of digital platforms on political participation, the role of big data and artificial intelligence in policy-making, challenges of digital inclusivity, and the implications of cybersecurity on the integrity of electoral processes. Each paper will contribute to a comprehensive understanding of how ICTs are transforming democratic practices and the emerging issues that accompany this shift.
